#2 Guruji Replies

Q: How can I resolve power struggle with my husband?

Sri Sri: With skill. One who has real power wont exercise it. One who doesnt have power tries to exercise it. There is a story about Mullah Nasruddin. He had a fight with his wife and he hid under the bed. Then the doorbell rang and his wife asked him to come out. He said,'No I wont come out, let them know who is the boss in the house'.

Q: Which are the elements of stress?
Sri Sri: Lack of energy, the desire to achieve in too short a time, and by not being in a pleasant state of mind. These can be combated by increasing one's energy level, confidence and trust.

Q: What should Indian Corporates need to focus on to compete with other nations?

Sri Sri: Attend to your labor force which has become so very lazy. Something that can be done in one day they take several days to finish it. Because, you have not developed a cordial relationship with your work. They do not feel committed to the job they are doing. Bring up commitment in the establishment that you have. We need to have aggressive negotiating skills where it is required which we lack. Like in the W.T.O. and other such places we need to raise our voice to negotiate, not feel small and fearful. Be self-confident to compete with other nations. What do you say? When I was at the World Economic Forum we had fifty religious and spiritual leaders from all over the world. Out of which only two of us represented the Eastern religion. Only Judaism, Christianity & Islam were included under monotheistic religions through a resolution excluding all the other religions like Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism as being polytheistic. So I told them that we had come to unite. And that the eastern religions also believed in ONE GOD, worshipped in many forms just as there are many idols in the church. When we insisted then they included all the three Indian religions after days of debates and arguments. They said because they do not match. I said if you want to see unity, you can see unity in everything. But if you want to see a difference it can be seen even in one religion, there can be so much diversity. So you have to put across to people your point of view in a clear and reasonable manner and they will accept. We lack this ability. We become selfish and small when it comes to the negotiating table. We don't see the facts clearly and lack the confidence to present ourselves. We don't know how. Agree with me?
